Alexander College Course
October 9- 24, 2007
Alexander College is offering a 17 day course in October of 2007 for all those interested in in-depth study of Jesus as prophet, sage, and messiah. This course will take you off the beaten path, with an emphasis of study in the Galilee, where Jesus did the majority of his teaching. Come join us this fall in Israel for a unique experience that promises to have a long lasting impact on your academic and spiritual life.
Tuesday, Oct. 9 Day 1: Arrival: Check In

Wednesday, Oct. 10 Day 2: Mt. Carmel
Lecture: The Geography and History of Galilee
Field Trip: Afternoon walk to Muhraqa: Elijah on Mt Carmel
Discussion: Jesus and his Bible
Overnight: Nazareth
Thursday, Oct. 11 Day 3: Lower Galilee
Field Trip: Jezreel, Mehola, Shulam and Nain
Lecture: Elijah and Elisha in the Life of Jesus
Overnight: Nazareth
Friday, Oct. 12 Day 4: Lower Galilee
Lecture: Rabbi Yehuda Hanassi and the Sages
Field Trip: Bet Shearim, Arraba and Yodfat
Discussion: The importance of Josephus for understanding New Testament history

Discussion: The Healing Ministry of Jesus
Field Trip: Genneseret and the "Other Side"

Field Trip: Walk to Caves 1 & 12 and swim in Dead Sea
Evening: Synagogue attendance and sabbath meal

Lecture: Jesus and Jerusalem
Field Trip: Tower of David Museum and Mount of Olives
Lecture: Angels in Jewish Literature of the Second Temple Period.

Lecture: Romans, Saducees, Pharisees and the Death of Jesus.
Field Trip: Temple Mount, Herodian Mansions, The Via Dolorosa, Church of the Resurrection
Evening: Passover Seder

Field Trip: Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum, Shrine of the Book and Bethlehem.
Discussion: The Birth of the Messiah
Overnight: Jerusalem
Wednesday, Oct. 24 Day 16: Free Day.

Participants are welcome to opt for an extension to the program, to be arranged with the director of Alexander College.
